Pray that God will fill the Slavic believers with a hunger for His Word: "Desire the sincere milk of the Word" (1 Peter 2:2), and a spirit of prayer: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask God to call many young men and women to serve Him sacrificially and sincerely in places of leadership. Pray that some will choose to serve in other Slavic countries as missionaries. Intercede for the Christian leadership in Eastern Europe that they will withstand the powers of darkness and remain stable in their spiritual roles. |
We had Seder celebrations at two homes in Brooklyn, New York. The warm setting of the first Seder turned out to be perfect for our guests, many of whom, though highly educated, had very little knowledge of the Passover story; especially the deeper meanings contained within the Passover emblems.
One lady told us that she had met Christians from Finland many years ago. She said that it had been pleasant to talk with them, but she didn't take a Bible from them because she had no interest in religion at the time. "I want to know now," she proclaimed. At the end of the meal, she asked Jesus to come into her life. Many others, like this precious friend, are looking for the answer to life's most important question: Who is the Messiah? Please pray for God's blessing to all these guests that have attended the Seders.
As the physical demands of attending two weekly home studies have become too great a burden, I have made the decision to stop one of the studies. I continue to be quite busy with other ministry opportunities. Dropping one of the weekly studies has given me the ability to do more home visits. Believers from previous years of ministry are getting older, and some have become homebound with terminal illnesses. It is a precious opportunity to bring them a word, to sing and to pray with them. It is often the children of these old friends who call and say that their parents would enjoy a visit, especially someone to pray with them.
I continue to support and supply "spiritual" materials to many friends, including one who is now teaching two lectures each week at a local facility. I have also been delighted to share resources with three groups that are distributing materials on the streets. In addition to driving many to and from studies, I often help friends get to doctor appointments, hospital visits and other areas of need.
I am so glad to see God opening many new doors of ministry for me. Please pray for protection and great harvest. Also pray that I will be given wisdom in knowing how to best use my time, as I receive many requests and want to invest my time in only that which will bear eternal fruit. Let us never forget that our lives come and go so quickly, and soon the time will come when the opportunities to do the work of the Kingdom will end. Let us take advantage of our chances to do this precious work while we have the time: "redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:16).
I appreciate all of you, and thank you for being friends!
